I agree that the timing of disclosure and the fact that it's being done through government sources is suspicious, but I believe there are a lot of lenses to look at it through as well. We're at a unique time in human consciousness where what's been suppressed for ages must break to the mainstream in some way. The cat can't stay in the bag any longer. This could mean that the admin is trying to get ahead of something real that they know is coming and shape the narrative the way they want.
